Who we help
Substance Abuse, Addictions, & Mental Health
Our program
One of the advantages of being a small personalized program is that our services get tailored for each individual we treat. We understand the process of addiction and can diagnose and offer support and treatment for people with a variety of underlying mental health issues that may be at the core of substance use disorders such as drugs or alcohol.
Risk factors
Research shows that in the United States, an estimated 23.5 million people have an addiction to alcohol or drugs, that’s one out of every ten Americans over twelve years of age. Unfortunately, only eleven percent of people with substance use disorders receive addiction treatment.
Treatment
Unlike most facilities and treatment programs, we can treat people
suffering from all types of mental illness, leading to self-destructive behaviors such as addictions (e.g. alcohol abuse) and co-occurring disorders.
‘Who we help’ isn’t the question to ask, rather the question should be ‘who don’t we help’.
Our clinical staff use a range of therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based behavioral model used to treat addictions such as drug addiction, serious mental illnesses and mental health problems.
The CBT method identifies any unhelpful triggers to help those at
increased risk of developing a substance use disorder; treatment involves controlling any urges a person may get before coming into contact with particular substances such as alcohol or drugs.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy allows individuals to control any maladaptive thoughts, emotions and behaviors that may have led them to alcohol or drug abuse. Substance abuse and mental health disorders often coexist, and our treatment programs tackle both mental health problems.
We find that many people suffering from addiction and co-occurring disorders share common underlying issues. These include symptoms of a mental health condition such as depression and anxiety, which ultimately one must address to accomplish positive life changes and long-lasting recovery.
At Sun Villas Recovery, we specialize in treating various mental disorders: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Gambling, Anger Issues, Grief, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder and other issues such as a mental health disorder.
